Luke practises primarily in industrial relations law for employees and trade unions in the construction, mining, and manufacturing industries. He regularly appears in employment, industrial, defamation, and anti-discrimination matters, including in the Fair Work Division of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the Federal Court of Australia. His work also extends to the Northern Territory.
With a strong belief in dignity at work and fair pay, Luke is committed to advancing the rights of workers and their unions. He focuses on understanding what outcomes are achievable while strategically pushing boundaries to secure improved results for those he represents and the broader workforce.
Luke has undertaken secondments with United Workers Union, the Rail, Tram and Bus Union, and the Finance Sector Union, giving him valuable insight into union operations and objectives. He has been involved in significant matters throughout his career, including large-scale wage recovery litigation and proceedings that delivered substantial pay increases for thousands of workers.
Luke is a member of the Industrial Relations Society of Queensland and the Industrial Law Committee of the Law Council of Australia, and has contributed to community legal services and legal publications.
