Juliana Virine

Principal Solicitor
Juliana Virine is a Principal Solicitor in our health law and employment law team in the Brisbane office. She was admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2012.

Juliana is a trusted health and employment law practitioner with significant experience representing health professionals in regulatory investigations and disciplinary proceedings. She regularly advises practitioners facing complaints and action by bodies such as:

  • the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra)
  • the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • the Medical Board of Australia
  • the Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO)
  • Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC)

In recent years, she has expanded her practice to encompass the ever-growing regulation of other professionals and employees, such as personal care workers and NDIS workers facing investigation or regulatory action.

Known for her compassionate and practical approach, Juliana focuses on safeguarding her clients’ professional reputations and careers during highly stressful and career‑critical moments.

With a strong background in employment and industrial law, including nearly a decade working with unions, Juliana assists clients with issues such as termination of employment, disciplinary processes, discrimination, harassment, restructures and disputes about entitlements. Her extensive experience enables her to navigate complex matters efficiently and strategically.

Juliana is an accredited mediator and has experience in mediation workplace disputes including claims of bullying and harassment.

Juliana is passionate about ensuring equal access to the law. She is a dedicated member of the trade union aid foundation APHEDA  and volunteers her legal skills to assist community organisations.
