Juliana Virine

Juliana Virine is a Principal Solicitor in our occupational discipline law and employment law team in the Brisbane office. She was admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2012.

Juliana Virine is a Principal Solicitor in our occupational discipline law and employment law team in the Brisbane office. She was admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2012.

Juliana is highly regarded for her extensive work with health and other professionals facing regulatory issues. She has represented a significant number of health practitioners with occupational discipline complaints and proceedings with their professional board, including complaints and investigations of regulatory bodies like the:

  • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
  • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia;
  • Medical Board of Australia; and
  • Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO).

She has, in recent years, expanded her practice to encompass the ever-growing regulation of other professionals and employees, such as personal care workers and NDIS workers facing investigation or regulatory action.

She is known for her compassionate and practical approach and her focus on protecting her clients’ professional reputations and careers during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Juliana also has a strong background in employment and industrial law, having worked for different unions for almost a decade before coming to Hall Payne. She assists clients in a wide range of employment matters, including:

  • termination of employment;
  • show cause disciplinary processes;
  • discrimination and harassment;
  • redundancy and organisational restructures; and
  • disputes concerning employee entitlements and rights.

Her years of experience allows her to navigate complex legal issues and deliver practical solutions.

Juliana is passionate about ensuring equal access to the law. She is a dedicated member of the trade union aid foundation  APHEDA  and volunteers her legal skills to assist community organisations.

When Juliana isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and being part of her local community.
