Luke Forsyth

Principal
Luke Forsyth is a Principal in Hall Payne Lawyers’ Sydney office, practising in employment and industrial relations law with more than two decades of experience advising employees, executives, unions, and organisations.

Luke joined Hall Payne Lawyers in 2001 and was later appointed Senior Legal Officer at the Queensland Nurses and Midwives Union in 2008. He returned to the firm in 2012 and was appointed Principal. With over 24 years’ experience in employment and industrial law, Luke acts for a wide range of clients, from senior executives of listed corporations to unions and their members across Australia.

Luke is known for his commercial insight and strategic approach to employment disputes. He is frequently retained to advise and represent senior executives in complex matters, with a focus on resolving disputes efficiently and confidentially while protecting both the financial interests and professional reputations of his clients. His combined expertise in employment and defamation law provides him with a strong understanding of the importance of reputation in professional life, and he regularly achieves favourable outcomes while preserving ongoing relationships where possible.

Luke is an experienced litigator and regularly appears for clients in Federal and State courts and tribunals across a broad range of employment, industrial, and regulatory matters.

Luke has been recognised by Doyle’s Guide as one of Australia’s leading employment lawyers since 2014. Luke is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, the NSW Law Society’s Employment Law Committee, Union Lawyers and Industrial Officers NSW, and the NSW Industrial Relations Society, and has contributed to several legal publications including Nurses and Law and Workplace Investigations: Principles and Practice.
